I have to say the volunteers have been amazing. The majority of the volunteers we are working with are giving feedback to say they love what theyโ€™re doing. Itโ€™s helping them because theyโ€™re getting out of the house and theyโ€™re interacting with people, doing something good to contribute to the community.

I absolutely love working at Cross Gates and District Neighbourhood Network. I really enjoy my role and I am very proud and privileged to work with such committed and caring people and supporting people in the community.

Volunteering gives you a purpose. Itโ€™s good to help people. It gives the people who youโ€™re supporting a window to the outside world. Itโ€™s very satisfying to be able to give something back. Itโ€™s not what I thought it was. It was a mixture of doing it for me – so I wasnโ€™t locked in the house, whilst helping others at the same time. I would say do it.

Even though you think you know your city, you donโ€™t really know your city until something like this crisis happens. Thereโ€™s a lot of poverty and so the impact for me is being more aware of the city and the people that live in it.

If I were to sum up how I have found volunteering, I would say, it’s been rewarding, fulfilling and fun!

What I have most enjoyed about volunteering is how nice everyone has been, from organisers to other volunteers to the people receiving help.

At Home-Start Leeds we value the time and support our volunteers have given to our families… Our service would not exist without volunteers.

Thanks to our amazing team of volunteers! You have kept our Service Users smiling and “feeling cared for” through the pandemic.

A big Thank You to all of our amazing volunteers! We appreciate you and everything you do for us!
